New Allotment Garden at Buckingham Palace

June 20, 2009 · Filed Under Garden, Getting Political

I’m really behind on reading the going-ons in the world at the moment, and I just came across this.  Not to be outdone by Michelle Obama, the Queen started her own vegetable garden on the palace grounds.

The Queen claims she had the idea first, but I’m not convinced…

Included in this garden are six heritage varieties from the British Heritage Seed Library.

Soilman wrote about it a few days ago – seems her area (i read) is about 30sqm of somthing stupid, which as robert says, is a bit of a token affort, considering Bukky Pally is 40 acres!

I suppose if the mood strikes us, we can pay the £20 to go on the garden tour and have a look!
