The sweet corn is starting to form tassels on the plants.

The bulbils on the perennial onions are almost ready.  This is the Amish onion.

    Lovely photos Patrick. Isn’t the amaranth gorgeous. Have you eaten some of the leaves yet? I think they are particularly nice.

    Hi Kate,

    We haven’t tried your suggestion yet of putting them at the end of a stir fry. We did try some in a salad, and honestly I wasn’t very impressed and wouldn’t try that again. The taste was a bit like ordinary green leaves.

    The information I got with these seeds is that while the leaves are edible, they were breed for seed production and not leaves, so the quality of the leaves may not be very good. Next year I’ll have to try a leaf kind. If you have any extra seeds or the name of a good leaf variety, I’ll be glad to give them a try…
